This book Tuesday by David Wiesner is about a frogs flying around on lily pads throughout the night. The book portrays certain events the frogs encounter on their flying adventure and times in which they occur. There are exactly 32 pages in this book and very few words to be found in this story but the pictures speak for themselves. The illustrations of the story are absolutely beautiful so there is no denying that it is very much so deserving of a Caldecott medal. The pictures are breathtaking and will captivate anyone who reads the story. This is one of my favorite children's books that I have read and I can't wait to include this in my class library. I would rate this book at four and a half stars and the book does not have a rating on the Lexile scale but it typically targeted toward ages 4-8 (however I would read it to all ages). I would use this book when writing narrative texts. I would have m students listen to me read the book and then have them create their own version of a Tuesday night adventure. Where would you fly on your lily pad? would you be a frog or would you choose a different animal? Make sure to list the places and times with illustrations that all reflect your own adventure.
